Bitzi for CDs   [forward as email]
It seems a large proportion of Bitzi are submitted for music files. However, most people still have most music on CD. It would appear to enormously increase Bitzi's usefulness if there could be Bitzi for CD tracks, and also maybe for compressed versions of these tracks.

I appreciate there are a few problems. In particular, when I copy the same track from two identical CDs onto my hard-drive, the files are slightly shifted relative to one another, which apparently is 'frame offset' due to different pressings. This results in different SHA-1 codes for tracks which are apart from that identical.

Anyway, assuming that such problems are surmountable, might Bitzi issue a few guidelines on a standard copy and compression process for tracks from audio CDs? Otherwise one hundred different people will submit one hundred different Bitzi for a file from from the same CD.

Relatable TRM might be useful, which is already in bitzi.

It looks interesting, at least - the concept being to identify the song, not a particular encoding of the song. I could speculate on how it would be useful to Bitzi, but I'm a bitzi newbie, so it wouldn't be appropriate.
