Very slow server....

| When I try to submit 1 file, or try to place it in a bitsociety, I am constantly hit with: Server Too Busy, Try again in 600 seconds. Many times, I have to sit and sit and wait and wait for things to go thru. I have waited up to 3 1/2 minutes. I have a cable modem and this web site is the slowest, by far, of any websites I have ever used. I can understand an occassional slow down, but it's a constant thing on this site. If there are plans for bitzi to be a major site, I would suggest getting the server problem fixed. I have over 8500 files and trying to do anything just takes way too much time, i.e., it has taken me 23 hrs to add 900 plus files to a bitsociety. That is ridiculous.

| I'm sorry for the problems you've encountered, and thanks for trying to fight through them. We're aware of the issue and are working on solutions. (FYI: The server isn't particularly overloaded, but at certain times of high traffic the interaction between two pieces of software gums up, for reasons as yet unknown. The "try again" message, recently added, is preventing a total lockup, but is coming up way too often. Usually, trying again in just 5-10 seconds will result in the right page displaying almost instantly. The good news is this can probably be fixed without any hardware upgrades; the bad news is we don't know when we'll get to the bottom of the bug/inefficiency.) Mass submissions (hundreds or thousands of Bitcollided files) will always be relatively time-consuming compared to regular operations, but we've kicked around some ideas for making the wait more palatable. For example, we might take and store the full raw submission as fast as you can upload it, and display a "received!" message, but then spend a few minutes processing it in the background before you can review/accept/reject the individual items. Your contributions and patience are appreciated!

| If this helps, I don't recall experiencing any problems when submitting more than 1 file at a time, it only happens with 1 file. However, since all my files are already listed in Bitzi, having to "adopt" them to a society can only be done 1 at a time. I do like Bitzi, however. Be real glad when the problem is worked out. I spend alot of time at the site.

| i have to agree with styxxnc, it is discouraging to have to deal with the sluggishness of the site, though i do appreciate bitzi providing this free service. i still bitcollide all new files i get, but it's just too tedious to have to click on 'add this tag' and scroll through the bitsociety pulldown menu to put them into the right bitsociety, so i usually leave the bitsociety tag off. i would be more likely to add bitsociety tags if we could batch apply them - if i've ripped 50 songs to hard drive and bitcollided and submitted them all it would be very helpful to be able to say 'apply the music bitsociety tag to all of these submissions'.

| FYI, if you get a 'busy' message on a single-file submit, the submit most likely succeeded. It is the subsequent display of the changed Ticket that generates the 'busy'. Still working to get to the bottom of this....
