| I haven't heard of the program 'malwarebytes'.
I have heard of Ad-Aware from Lavasoft, but it has no relation to any Bitzi software. All our downloads, by the way, are versions of a tool called 'bitcollider'.
No other software of any kind is bundled with Bitcollider downloads -- it's just the bitprint-and-submit-data utility. And no part of Bitcollider software would ask someone to "download again"... our only offers to download the software are on the website.
Perhaps there's some confusion here with other software?

| detected file is listed as follows
Adware.Agent
Date spotted:
First seen on 2008-01-20.
Last seen on 2009-04-23.
Detection statistics:
This object is 2.34% of all objects detected.

i downloaded via sourceforge.... i have used before when not having malwarebytes.no probs as such
apart from when i enter bitzi certain times. i am given loads of ads, or even re-directed to various movie sites
what's that all about?
anyway adware is detected, and is blatantly in effect

There's no mention of Bitzi/Bitcollider in this excerpt. Is the only connection that after deleting this other strange 'Adware.Agent' program, you have issues?
If so, what do you mean by "bitzi no longer works"? What do you try, what did you expect to happen, and what happens instead?
The Bitcollider does rely on the ability to send your default web browser to our website for lookup/submission. Often, other software installation problems on Windows can break this ability (for both Bitcollider and other non-web-browser-apps that try to send a link to the browser). Perhaps that's what you mean by "bitzi no longer works"?
When visiting bitzi.com, users who are not logged-in will sometimes be shown an 'interstitial' full-page ad, but in all such cases there should be a clear link to proceed to Bitzi (and you should never be sent to any other sites unless you choose to click an advertisement).
If you do encounter any other behavior, please report it with as many other details about what page you tried to visit, and where you wound up, that you can compile. (You can message me privately if you prefer.) If by chance this is one of our ad networks allowing bad content, I'd like to know.

| hi cheers for your reply
since i installed again - malwarebytes no longer detects adware after a scan
what was happening before was - after removing the adware alert thing, bitcollider would no longer open, and a pop up came up telling me it might work if i install again, this happened a few times before
but it hasnt happened again for now
cheers

| No version of Bitcollider includes any pop-up recommending it be installed again, so whatever you've installed, it's not the official Bitcollider from Bitzi.
If it happens again, please take a screenshot.

| Yes, I know this is way late for an answer to this. I don't think he meant that the Bitzi program was teling him to reinstall. It was a windows error message displyed when the program wasn't able to open.
I know this because the same thing happened to me. I downloaded bc-setup-0.6.0.exe from Sourceforge (twice, to make sure it wasn't a download error) & attempted to run. "The application could not run because bitcoll.dll is missing" was displayed. I reinstalled, this time catching McAfee antivirus deleting GLH0006.tmp as a trojan.
Reading your explanation makes sense. Bitzi does open the browser, so it would make sense that the antivirus programs would view it as a trojan, and classify it with a bunmch of other trojans which also open browsers (with less altruistic intent). But Bitzi has never steered me wrong before, so I'll tell McAfee to release the file from quarantine.
Thanks for the explanation : )
