| Does the public db backup file contain tag submitter info (even username would be bad imho). personally, if you submit a tag her and a tag there it's o.k. but it'll make users like me think twice... If not the riaa on my ass just think about the spam I might get. pls keep this info private (also in website, I don't want my username to appear on every second search result in this website, 10x)

| Neither the catalog dumps nor the single-file XML tickets contain contributor information currently. I'm working on changes that will allow you to contribute anonymously and later claim any contributions you want to have associated with your user, and also to allow abandoning to an anonymous user contributions already associated with your user. OTOH some users want to be known for their contributions. I believe we'll accomodate both desires shortly. Regarding spam, we never reveal your email address. Thanks for the feedback!

| I would add further to Mike's answer: We never ask for personal identifying information, like your real name, and you are allowed to have multiple usernames, if you'd like. Together with the facilities Mike described, for keeping submissions provisionally anonymous unless you approve them appearing under your name, and the ability to donate even old contributions into anonymous pools, will mean that you need only be on the website's record for as much or as little credit for your submissions as you'd like. (We may add to the public data dumps a chance for the "1st reporter" of a file to get a special credit/tagline/backlink, because we believe this might help motivate people to report and describe new and exciting files here first. But this option will be completely user-configurable.) When these options are fully implemented, there will be an announcement in our general discussion area and front page. Until then, Bitzi usernames *do* appear next to most contributions on the website, but not in XML tickets and public datadumps.
