note this! ID tag changes = different bitprint!   [forward as email]
I'm currently developing a new java gnutella servent. My initial purpose was to start something like a software to hunt mediafiles (hence the name MediaHunter) on gnutella using bitprints and data from musicbrainz or freedb, I"ve started that project and since I couldn't find any gnutella client developer to work with me on integrating MediaHunter into a gnutella servent for reference implementation, I started writting my own servent (GnuMuse will be the name probably, as it is ased on Echomine Muse API).

I'm finishing the first alpha this week and will start the MediaHunter again (continue actually, if some ppl wanna join me you're more then welcome..).

OK, I noticed that when I chage the id tag of a file, I get a different bitprint and that is fatal! you have tu subtract the size of the id tag before calculating the bitprint.

Havn't decided yet what is better, digital finger print as Cantametrix (which is true audio signature) or yours, that fit any binary file but any small change will give a different result...

for more info, write to root@u812.net and we'll discuss that further.

Good luck and stay opensourced...I'd drop that registration thing...it's annoying and useless...
